Phoenix Karate was founded by Chandres, Adrian, and Sadie Pickett, who all have black belts in American Freestyle Karate. Phoenix Karate teaches American Freestyle while also focusing on traditional and foundational elements from Shorei Ryu, which Adrian and Sadie are also actively training in.
Phoenix Combatives is run by Erin Samsell, a certified Krav Maga instructor through a nationally-recognized defensive and offensive combat system.
The purpose of Phoenix Karate is to support the continued training and personal growth of karatekas who have a desire to learn and give back to their fellow students.
Adrian earned his black belt in American Freestyle Karate in 2022. He has competed since 2019 in various circuits, primarily PROMAC and NASKA, and has regional, national, and world titles including PROMAC Regional Champion, PROMAC Divisional Champion, NASKA National Champion, and NASKA World Top Ten Competitor.
Sadie earned her black belt in American Freestyle Karate in 2022. She has competed since 2019 in many circuits, and has regional, national, and world titles including PROMAC Regional Champion, PROMAC Divisional Champion, NASKA National Champion, and NASKA World Top Ten Competitor.
Chandres earned her black belt in American Freestyle Karate in 2023. She manages Phoenix's administrative needs and scheduling, and oversees the competition team.
Erin is a certified Krav Maga instructor, as well as a Phoenix Karate student and competitor. She will earn a PROMAC Regional Champion title in 2024.
